In contrast to the inflationary trends and the modifying socio-economic atmosphere, the Ministry of Defence has majorily increased the monetary limits of entitled individuals for buying of items from Canteen Stores Department outlets recently.
The monthly limit for grocery purchase and other routine items for all officers has been changed from Rs.7,500 to Rs.11,000. And for junior commissioned officers aka JCOs and others ranks, the new monthly limits set are Rs.8,000 & Rs.5,500 respectively compared to earlier Rs.5,000 and Rs.3,500.
Similarly, the annual limits for AFD items, that are high-end items with a unit cost of above Rs.750, have too been increased. It is presently 1 lakh for officers, 75,000 for JCOs & 55,000 for other ranks while it was Rs 95,000, Rs 65,000 and Rs 40,000 previously respectively.
Monetary conditions were applied on purchases and smart cards were given to consumers to verify misuse of canteen facilities.
For civilian officers of the Ministry of Defense who are remitted out of defence estimates, the fresh limits are the same as for officers, JCOs & other ranks as per their corresponding grade pay. Civilians, however, are not recommended to draw liquor from CSD outlets.
