PNB scam: Neerav Modi, British newspaper claim to seek refuge in UK

The main accused of the Punjab National Bank scam and billionaire Neerav Modi, who is accused of fraud of 2 billion, has reached Britain. He wants to take political asylum here. A newspaper has quoted this claim on behalf of Indian and British officials. Who has confirmed that he is in Britain. Neerav Modi is absconding since the PNB scam has surfaced in February. The UK Home Ministry on this issue says that it does not provide information about personal matters.

The newspaper has written that Neerav Modi has sought political asylum from Britain saying that his political persecution is being done. Reuters wrote that they tried to talk to Nirav Modi, but they could not be contacted.

PNB, the country’s second largest bank, had said in the beginning of 2018 that diamond trader Neerav Modi and his uncle, Mehul Choksi, have cheated the bank by 2.2 billion. Indian investigating agencies are looking for it. According to the report, Modi is in London and he is about to take political asylum while citing political oppression here. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Government is contacting law enforcement agencies before pressuring India to extradite.

The Central Government is already pressurizing Britain to extradite Vijay Mallya to liquor and airline tycoon. The owner of the Kunffisher Airline and the co-owner of Formula One Force India left the country in March last year. After the release of Nirav Modi, the Indian government had canceled his passport and the Central Investigation Agency issued a notice notice against him. Modi laid the foundation of the Globe Diamond Jewelery House in 2010 and named it after its name.

The police files charges against 25 people in May. In which Neerav Modi, Mehul Choksi, former PNB chief Usha Ananthasubramanian, two bank directors and three people from the company of Nirav Modi were also involved. At the same time, Modi and Choksi have refused to do any wrongdoing.
