In the state of Jharkhand, any applicant is issued one of the type of Ration Cards as under:
Jharkhand Annpurna Cards are gifted to persons over the age of 65 with no support from anyone and not availing old age pension.
JK Antyodaya Anna Yojana AAY Cards are presented to poorest of the poor families residing in rural areas & urban slums.
Jharkhand Below Poverty Line / BPL Family Cards are provided to poor families dwelling in rural areas & urban slums.
APL Cards or Above the poverty line cards issued to above poverty line families.
All the family ration cards are eligible for food grain only.
Currently, commodities included under the Targeted Public Distribution System TPDS are rice, wheat, sugar & kerosene. Commodities distributed at the fair price depots / fpd shall be according to the terms mentioned under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act & Rules.
Rice & wheat are given to BPL/AAY families at discounted prices. After complying the promised entitlement of the BPL/AAY cardholders and based on the stock of rice and wheat, APL Card holder will be issued rice and wheat at the scale & rates fixed from time to time.
Only BPL/AAY Ration cardholders are privileged to avail sugar under the TPDS. Not all APL families are entitled to obtain sugar.
Kerosene is offered to ration cardholder subject to complying few restrictions fixed by the State Government.
All the card holders will be given other essential commodities under the Public Distribution System as confirmed from time to time by the state govt. at the scale and rates set by the government.
Eligibility to have ration card in jharkhand
No ration card persons should give a certificate had from the Panchayat Pradhan / PP/ NP / Nigam Parshad / HK / RK / Halka Kramchari (Revenue Kramchari) / PS / Panchayat Sewak / TC / Tax Collector in writing stating that the applicant has no ration card.
