About Cauvery River:

The Cauvery river is 765 km long which is considered the lifeline for the state of Karnataka as well as Tamil Nadu state in India. The Cauvery river originates in Kodagu district of Karnataka state and flows into the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.

Cauvery Verdict Judges:

About 3 judges of the Supreme Court issued the Cauvery water dispute verdict which includes Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justices Amitava Roy and AM Khanwilkar.

Cauvery Water Dispute Verdict Highlights:

As a precaution both the states of Tamilnadu and Karnataka Bus services had been stopped and seems no restriction for the goods and private vehicles between the two states.

The Supreme Court had released the verdict regarding the Cauvery water sharing issue between Karnataka and Tamilnadu state which includes lessened water share for Tamil Nadu from 192 TMC to 177.25 TMC.

As per the verdict by Supreme Court Bengaluru will be allocated 4.75 TMC of drinking water.

The Supreme Court has given extra water to Karnataka to provide drinking water to Bengaluru city, said a government lawyer for Tamil Nadu and AIADMK MP, A Navaneethakrishnan.

Tamilnadu lawyer Navaneethakrishnan reported that Supreme Court has given extra water to Karnataka to provide drinking water to Bengaluru city and hope that the Tamil Nadu government will take appropriate steps.

Karnataka lawyer Mohan Katarki had stated that armers in both states must be happy with the Supereme Court verdict.
