.Bharat Domain Site Registration Launched By Government of India:

The Government of India had launched the .bharat country code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD) name and initially 8 languages which includes Hindi, Konkani, Marathi .bharat domain name in devanagari script had been launched on 27th August 2014, Wednesday.

The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) had announced that the Internationalised Domain Name (IDN) of some Indian languages like Bangla, Urdu, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil and Gujarati will be soon launched.

Instead of top level domains such as .com, .net or .in the name will have .bharat as its extension and the interested individuals of companies can able to book the name for a website with domain name in the language they required.

The Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had also informed that they had planned to connect about sixty thousand villages with broadband in the year 2014 through the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN).

By March 2017 about 2.50 lakh gram panchayats in India will be provided with the high-speed broadband connectivity of the project worth around Rs 35,000 crore.
